Careers at Worrells
We are always on the lookout for motivated accountants who are interested in a career in insolvency. At times we may not have a position immediately available, but we maintain a list of potential employees for when positions do become available.
Working in insolvency is an opportunity to develop a range of skills from the diverse disciplines of: accounting analysis and interpretation; business management; business and asset divestment; commercial law; risk management; litigation; financial reporting and personal communication.
To succeed in this area of accounting, you will need to have high levels of motivation, a positive learning attitude, resourcefulness, initiative and an ability to deal with uncertainty. Whilst insolvency is exciting and rewarding, some people find it too demanding and confronting. Insolvency is more suited to people who are self confident and assertive.
Insolvency requires technical and analytical skills and a good deal of the "detective". You will be required to perform technically and accurately under time constraints and be able to make decisions based on available information.
The firm generally maintains a two to one structure. Each file accountant will have a supervisor. That supervisor is usually only responsible for two file accountants, ensuring the proper amount of attention can be given to training and assisting those employees. Each partner/manager team controls at most three supervisors to ensure that full attention can be given to all staff.

Further Studies
We realize that the first big step in a person's career is usually becoming a Chartered Accountant or a CPA. The firm expects that staff will undertake these studies at some stage, and the earlier the better. The firm provides support to staff for their CA or CPA studies, both financially (paying for the first attempt of each subject) and in providing materials and courses to assist staff in achieving that status as quickly as possible.
We will also provide the same support to Chartered Accountants or CPAs that wish to expand their qualifications in related areas of insolvency and financial investigation. In particular, we encourage staff that have completed their CA or CPA studies to undertake the IPA course in insolvency.
In House Training
The firm maintains regular in house training programs designed to enhance relevant and necessary skills.
